Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
Thank you maiden, that's a big help.
I am using my first version of Photoshop - 7 I am sure I will want to upgrade to the newest version at some point but I imagined I might end up missing out 'CS' - on the basis that, by the time I am proficient enough to warrant an upgrade, the next version will have been released. Should I be scrambling to upgrade to CS? Is it a big difference?
btw - my tablet pc does indeed have inbuilt wacom technology so I have to work out what I am doing wrong in my use of either the pen, the tablet or Photoshop.

Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
CS does seem to be a more substantial upgrade than previous Photoshop upgrades, but from what Steve is hinting at I'd wait for CS X or whatever it's to be called.

Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
Any hints of 'when'?
I hope it comes out with a pen tool that takes voice commands..."over a bit"...."ok, now bend a bit"...."and bending left..."

Morag....who loves all of photoshop except the pen tool.

Haha that would be handy or even a Magic Wand Pen tool.

As for when, I couldn't really say but I suspect spring to summer time-ish *shrugs* Steve's not allow to say anything so we will all have to just wait and see and see if we can stretch our strained purses to cope.

Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
Actually, all the shortcuts on those cards (and more) are listed in tabular form (PC vs Mac) in the Photoshop quickstart manual.

Keep practicing the Pen Tool, Morag. As Steve has said on many occasions, it's the most powerful selection tool available. I don't use the tablet with the pen tool though, I prefer the mouse, I personally find it difficult to get the accuracy and control with the stylus...so that's one hand on the mouse, the other on the stylus and the, errrm, other on the keyboard - now there's a plug-in photoshop needs, an extra hand

Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
Thanks for this one Maiden, I am always hopeless at remembering the Shortcuts, I usually have to keep flicking through THE BOOK to refresh my memory! Now I have a print out just above my desk...
Cheers

Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
The most useful shortcuts are listed on the inside back flap, remember. Would you like me to include more here?

THE BOOK… makes it sound rather biblical…

You could possibly include some of the lesser known (but useful) shortcuts.

No mean to offend anyone with this comment but your "BOOK" is probably more useful

Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
The CD has been pasted over the back flap of my particular copy of 'The Book' making it too difficult to use as a 'quick' reference. I am scared to pull the cd holder away in case it completely rips off the list. I love the printout maiden put up and I would love any more shortcuts that are available.

Eventer, there's a PDF document on the Photoshop CD, it's a quickstart guide which lists pretty much every shortcut for Photoshop.

Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
Thanks, that's great. I really MUST get into the habit of reading accompanying files, I just get the program out to play with and never look at the cd again

Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
There are lots of hidden things on the CD, additional filters, etc. and for some reason, the JPEG2000 filetype - I don't know why that wasn't installed as standard though.

Excellent file - although written for the Mac - it was easy to convert- save the mind for more important tasks

Attached converted for Windows file.

Re: For those of us who struggle with Shortcuts
Apologies for double posting - but use this cleaner looking copy of the previous document.

I printed this both side of a single sheet of paper - laminated it and tucked it under my keyboard..... !!
