Is This A "Boxed" Photo
Thought I would try your suggestion and came up with this. Simple enough but I can see where I could play with it for a long time. [Attachment: Boxed-Backyard.jpg (88.66kb)] |

Better yet...a little more leveling and better subject matter would improve it, I think. [Attachment: Boxed-Backyard-2.jpg (79.42kb)] _________________ Imagine what M.C. Escher could have done with all of this... |

Why is there a line between the two halves of the picture? ![]() |

I stroked each selection and left it that way. I liked the appearance of a hard corner. I think the subject matter could be better and the line helps in this case. Oddly enough, after playing around with this technique just yesterday, this morning I saw a new Lexus billboard done with a boxed canvas approach. Very impressive. Eyecatching. _________________ Imagine what M.C. Escher could have done with all of this... |

I must say that I also liked the effect but it does not look like a box. There was a recent posting in Image Doctor - "Turning this image into a boxed canvas effect" where a flat image was made into a realistic looking box. Back to the edge, I think it is important to decide what the box is made of The example in the book assumes that it is made of cardboard, which will not fold into a sharp edge. The reasistic effect was achieved by brightening the edge pixels. A metal or plastic box would be different. I think your image would benefit from a third side, why not give this a try? |
