Hello everyone
Hello everyone, hust thought I'd introduce myself as I've just been lurking for a couple of days.

Was introduced to this site and Steve's book by Dek_101 and I'm really impressed with both

I'm now a lecturer, but spent most of my working life working in graphic design and prepress, so I got a lot of Photoshop time in (mostly doing the basics) - I can remember PS3 (can you imagine having to work without layers - lol!)

I have one question however (and it's ambiguous, so I apologise beforehand) - what do you guys find is the best way to motivate yourselves in a creative sense (sources of inspiration etc?) There have been occasions where I need ideas and all I'm getting is white noise - lol!

Anyhow, nice to make your acquaintances and see you soon.

Re: Hello everyone
Welcome to the forum, Storm. Glad you're enjoying the book!

The inspiration thing is tricky, especially when you're faced with a blank canvas. My own work is all on commission, which does focus the mind: this is why I introduced the Friday Challenge, to give people a chance to explore their creativity within the confines of a set idea.

One of the best sources of inspiration is, of course, other people's work. look at the Reader's Gallery here, or on sites such as b3ta or worth1000; both will give you plenty of examples of what other people have dreamt up. Each time you're looking at an image and you think Hey, I could do that better, or in a different way - there's your starting point.

Steve

Re: Hello everyone
Thanks for the reply Steve, sounds like good advice to me mate.

I said earlier I've used PS for years but your book was a real eye-opener for me, found myself saying 'I wish I'd thought of that' on numerous occasions!

Cheers for all the hard work you put into it (plus taking time out to reply to us)
