New Photoshop CS2er
I, hereby, declair that of this day (5.30.06 - less five days) I have finally decided to upgrade to Photoshop CS2 - no download! Hard copy only! I liked some of the additional features the program offers (one of which is a font preview which I never could comprehend why it wasn't available in the first place - GIVE US A BREAK, ADOBE!!!), and decided to spend the money on the upgrade - especially since I, suddenly, encountered a printing problem with the version I have (Photoshop 7.0.1), called Adobe tech support on it, and was politely - but FIRMLY informed that they simply don't support version 7.0.1 anymore. (edited) Anyway, I'm now prepared to relaunch my efforts, with CS2, which seems to offer a relatively short 'n shallow learning curve - as I see it - subsequent to vs. 7.0.1. (If anyone should disagree with my evaluation of a shallow learning curve subsequent to vs. 7.0.1 please so inform me and I won't waste my time in "le future" with upgrading. One massive learning curve is quite enough as regards Adobe Photoshop, and I have quite enough ongoing and heavy work using this program to spend - otherwise - lotsa additional time going back to school all over again. Adobe makes plenty of money on upgrades - and I have to spend heaps o' time going back to school? 'Fraid NOT!! Keep it to the point 'n simpler.) Finally, yes, I'am ordering Steve's new book as a learning companion to his last "How to... edition 2". Will pick up some interesting new tips therein, but in the end ... there are many ways to skin a cat, as we both well know, Steve. I have discovered several different ways to accomplish various graphics issues which are, actually, easier and quicker than the approaches you suggest, but yours are S-S-S-S-SUPER! Yours are a great forerunner "quick start". Herein, lies the true flexability of Photoshop as well as the many different and creative ways of its' uses, say what. It's all about whatever works BEST for the user. It's as you have stated in replies to so many "newbees": "Experiment, experiment, experiment." GREAT ADVICE! One MUST, simply, only concur. OK. Very much look forward to getting and going through your new book - then, perhaps, finding other ways which may be faster and easier for me than the approaches you suggest - via your suggestion of experimentation. (As I see it, experimentation is the pure seedling to improvement and invention.) Keep up the great work, Steve, and thanks for your continuing efforts to improve us professional graphic artists via Photoshop. We, truly, appreciate all of your efforts for our betterment. My very best to you and yours. Stay well, sane and, of course, COOL! My best, also, to London. Gotta LUV it!!! Oh, yeah! Hank p.s. We, here in America, would like to have Tony Blair as our President. May we "steal" him?

Would have prefered that comment to not have been said. Could of done less with the f**k and stuff, there are other means of saying that in a more polite way. I agree, Alex. Hank, I've edited your post. I note your interests include "politics (especially liberal politics), total sexual freedom, religion and all issues related to the betterment of mankind" - surely this all applies to women as well? I appreciate your frustration, but please moderate your approach here. Steve |

Certainly this applies to women, as well, Steve. However, I don't excuse rudeness/terseness on the telephone as applicable to my embracement of tolerance - just as I would not from a man. Perhaps, the "hand slap" here is appropriate, as such. So noted. Hank |
