A question on Illustration and illustrator
I've been wanting to get into Illustration more lately having seen some wonderful artwork from some people. One guy has very inspiring work is website is http://www.glufolio.co.uk/ His work appear to have like old walls or wallpaper for the background and I just love them, can these be done on a computer or are they done do you think actually taking photos of old walls and scanning them in. Another thing about Illustration is most of the work I see the illustraters use great little photos, where do they find them all. I've seen some awesome stuff on artists on myspace, truly inspiring art and they use these great photographs of things, is there a site that illustrators in general use to buy these or get them free.

I have recently got illustrator a classroom in a book , are they any other good books recommended to learn more clever advanced stuff .

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Phil

Definitely photographs, I'd say. But rather than old walls, I'd guess he's painted these himself.

As for the question about sources of artwork, there are links to both commercial and free image websites here.

Hi Steve

how would you go about painting something like that, would he of done it in illustrator.

Read on another thread about you thinking of doing a how to cheat in illustrator, aww hope you decide to, I want to learn illustrator but like many its finding the time to jump in there as heard it takes real commitment to learn to get to grips with it, think a book that shows different things in a way like HTCIP does would be good.

Cheers
Phil

How to Cheat in Illustrator is now definitely on the cards. I've been putting a lot of work into the project recently, and it is a tricky one: unlike Photoshop, where you can combine two images and immediately create a work of art, in Illustrator you really do have to learn the basics. My problem is how to get this information across in a palatable way!

Any news Steve about the book on Illustrator, I would definatly buy it, I know it could be a good tool, just am a little afraid of it as I don't have a clue where to find things half the time with it, would love a few good tutorials and lessons on it.

cheers
