Changes in the next version of the book:
I have noticed with others, and--not least--my self that if we are relatively new to Photoshop, and therefore still learning, then we have a difficult task of juggling many new balls in the air while mentally trying to connect the omitted stages that are taken for granted as basic or fundamental by more experienced users.

This is why some learners fail: there is no complete visual connection of all the processes involved; of course, more pages would have to be found to accommodate these step-by-step procedures.

However, in this respect, How to cheat in Photoshop pales into insignificance compared to Martin Evening's book Adobe Photoshop for Photographers. And for that reason I offer his book (Adobe Photoshop for photographers) free (including postage)to anyone in the UK (postage).

Finally, as a severe warning to those who might be put off buying How to cheat in Photoshop, I would say that it has a "complete range of wonderful tricks and effects that no other book has (I qualify that last remark by saying that I've browsed through all 50 or more of them at some stage or other).

There are three excellent books for beginners that deal with the "basics" of Photoshop learning: Photoshop CS2 Quick Steps, Photoshop Made Easy, and in its fourth reading the incomparable Max Pixel's ADVENTURES in adobe PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 3 by Steve Caplin. The fundamentals covered in this book are equally applicable to Photoshop.

Mike a bone fide thicky

The book i found very helpful was The Photoshop CS2 Book For Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby, it covers the basics of using CS2 step by step.
