Edit animated gif in CS3?
I know you can use a video layer in CS3 then save for the web and end up with an animated gif, but is there any way you can load in an animated gif so that you can edit it?

I currently use Animation shop that came with PSP, but I'd like to give that the elbow and use CS3.

You can create a new video layer from a file and I was surprised not to see .gif as one of the possible file types

The thing I like best about CS3 is the startup time. CS2 was so slooooooooooow. How can CS3 be so quick to startup when it must have lots more stuff to do.

As far as I can make out, there's no way to import a GIF in an editable fashion. I imagine that the compressed nature of GIFs would make the sequence of frames largely unintelligible, anyway.

Using CS2 it's easy to load GIFs - switch to ImageReady and simply select Open and the gif file you wish to import which will load the gif with all it's frames as seperate layers, then send the file back to Photoshop to edit each frame.

I'm not familiar with Photoshop CS3 as I don't have it

Thanks Maiden. I'll give that a go. I still have CS2 at home and only use CS3 at work
