Off topic - Samuel K Amphong
I think the jury's still out on whether the posts in the HTCIP CS3 forum are a hoax or not. It seems though that the poster may possibly be genuine after all. What made me think it could be a wind-up was the similarity in content to the series of hoax letters to the NME's Gasbag in the mid 70's, supposedly from Samuel K Amphong in Thailand and bemoaning the lack of coverage of his beloved Beatles in the music press. I think most of them were done by Danny Baker, but the first one may have been a genuine letter. I googled for this and came up with this, possibly the first one, though I seem to remember something about "Paul McCarthney" and "stylish drummer Ringo Starr" "Where is Beatles band? This band who have not been as of late clear of circumstance. Beatles Band! Can we no longer hear there medolious throng? John! Paul! All in Beatles Band come forth! What question have we to put? Now? Arguments neccessary can begin with whole results expected for any return. Ringo! Here in Thailand Beatles band experience is long loved and can be hurt away from John, Paul etc. Please give any news to Samuel K. Amphong of address similar to above. yours as in rock! I wouldn't like to speculate but as far as I'm concerned the jury is still out on this one. I've seen a lot of internet hoaxers but it's hard to say whether this is genuine or an hoax. |
