Download CS5 trial now!!!
Just in case no one has noticed, CS5 is now available to download from the Adobe website. As usual it's the full version limited to 30 days. Their servers seem to be working well at the moment. It's only taking about 25 minutes to download the 6gb file. |

No, you can happily have two versions of Photoshop on the same system. |

Is the 30 days from the date of download or from whenyou first run it? _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

It's 30 days from the first run. You can try it now on Windows then when you install it on your new Mac you'll get another 30 days. |

Re: Download CS5 trial now!!!
I will keep running Windows CS4 on my on my laptop, can't afford ot buy 2 copies. But once I get the Mac I will download the tiral version, to keep off having to spend any more money for awhile. My husband is still in shock, not complaing, just shocked. ![]() _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: Download CS5 trial now!!!
Well I have found a couple. Nothing too bad though. Just niggly things like the cursor not changing to an arrow when you move over the menu bar on the Mac. Also when you are in the colour picker clicking on the hue selection bar, the RGB values are not updated, just the HSB I must say it's much more stable than CS4 though. I process a lot of images in Photoshop at work and with CS4 it would crash after about three or four images. CS5(on Windows) has never crashed in a couple of days. |

Re: Download CS5 trial now!!!
CS5 came this morning by courier, and have just finished checking it out on my Windows machine. I cannot detect any bugs on this version (unlike CS4 in which the slider in both the Vibrance and Match colour would not move smoothly: you had to pre-click a point along the scale or type a value in the box.) if you have an internet connection, then "Activation" is automatic when you install. Paul, I have the latest Quicktime Player which is an Apple-Mac product, and I had my arm twisted and twisted to upgrade from a player that in all respects was indistinguishable from the latest upgrade; anyway, my cursor changes into an hourglass when I move it over the controls--even though I have full functionality. The point is this when I Minimise and then Restore Quicktime, I have my arrow cursor back again, so it's a long shot, but if you could minimise CS5 and then restore it see what happens. ![]() |

Re: Download CS5 trial now!!!
My cursor doesn't stick like it. If I click on the menu bar then it changes to an arrow. I think it's because PS CS5 allows you to change window size by dragging any edge which is not standard Mac behaviour. So as you move up to the menu bar as you cross the window edge, you get the double headed sizing cursor, but instead of getting the arrow cursor when you go past the window edge onto the menu bar it sticks with the double headed arrow. It's not a problem and only happens when PS is right at the top of the screen. It's just a bit disconcerting as the wrong cursor is usually a sign of an app not responding. Are you running photoshop in 32bit or 64 bit mode Michael? I only have 32bit at work and when I tried the content aware fill on a print sized image (30"x20" @ 180dpi) I got an out of memory error. I get no such errors on my Mac at home. i think I need to ask my boss to invest in some more RAM and a copy of Windows 7 64 Bit. |

Re: Download CS5 trial now!!!
Paul, I'm running 32bit Vista. I did an eighty percent content aware fill on an 11mb (4000 x 2500 pixels) image which took a minute or two to render via a progress bar, but it worked okay. Here's my preference for CS5 performance: NB click on pic for clearer detail ![]() |

Re: Download CS5 trial now!!!
I did quite a bit of content aware filling today and my problem with memory persists. I had to break it down into smaller sections. |

Re: Download CS5 trial now!!!
Funny you should say that Steve, as I now frequently get (unlike CS4) messages that there is not enough RAM to save a file, and it's not just content-aware fill either--though that's the main culprit. ![]() I have a three gig RAM computer, but it says in CS5 Preferences 1650 available, so can anyone help me to get more please ![]() |

Re: Download CS5 trial now!!!
Michael, I'm not recommending, but if you go to crucial.com, you can avail of a software download to scan your PC to see what memory upgrades are compatatible with your current configuration. I think they have a reputation to defend. Used them once ~2 years ago. No problem. Prices $, but you could shop arround afterwards. They return a few options, price etc. I presume 4G will be your limit, so Pauls comments apply if you want to take that upgrade path of course. |

Re: Download CS5 trial now!!!
I quite often get Not enough ram with CS4, even when using the wand to select something, never mind trying to blend layers. Looking forward to my Mac, still hasn't arrived and I'm now heading overseas for a month. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |
