Appropriate?
Steve - I've some montages I'd like to share......there are nudes (female) involved, and I don't know how everyone would feel about that. There is nothing even remotely "porno" or "suggestive" about them (my mother never would have approved! ![]() Joey _________________ "Art is a blade of grass ... and in a moment I will eat it." |

Re: Appropriate?
Joey, I don't see any problem with that. I don't think Forum members are particularly prudish. It might be an idea to host the images off-site and to provide links to them, rather than attaching them so they appear automatically when the page is loaded. Members might access this site at work, or in a public place, and I wouldn't want them to be embarrassed by images they hadn't specifically loaded. |

Well, I don't have a website, and, honestly, I don't know how to do what you suggest.......hmmm _________________ "Art is a blade of grass ... and in a moment I will eat it." |

Re: Appropriate?
OK, then try this: upload your images here as normal, and when each one is uploaded, copy its URL. Then delete the post, and paste the URL into a new post. It will then appear as a clickable link. Does this make sense? |

Re: Appropriate?
I don't tthink it worked - this might be too left brained for me! I don't think anyone would be embarrassed - can I submit one and see what happens? _________________ "Art is a blade of grass ... and in a moment I will eat it." |

Re: Appropriate?
Hi Joey, You could also try a service such as Photobucket. Once the image is uploaded you will find a dialogue box under the image where you will see the url link, just copy that and paste it into your post. You will see it appear as something like this: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/GKBphoto/HTCIPAirways.jpg Once this appears in your post all that people have to do is click on the link and they will be taken directly to the image. Using this service also means that you can post higher resolution images. The service is free - just google 'Photobucket' and set up a freebie account. There are quite a few other sites available that do exactly the same thing but this is the one that I use. Gordon _________________ Only one shopping day left until tomorrow! |

Re: Appropriate?
Hi Joey, Photobucket is the website I use as well when I want to post a smaller image (to fit under 100k) to the HoTCHiPS forum but also post a link to a larger image. As Gordon says it is free to use and would serve the added benefit of providing somewhere for you to link to larger images when you submit your challenge entries etc. Vern _________________ "We're going to need a bigger boat!" |

Re: Appropriate?
Hi Joey, I think Steve's idea should work. As per Gordon and Vern, I also use Photobucket sometimes as well, but only for HTCIPS. Maybe the best solution. The free part has max storage limit until you need to pay, or it did. Works fine. I've not hit it. One reason I think PB with link might be the best is because some countries (I won't say which for example) have very strong filters in place and the innocent person trying to just do some HCIPS FC could get into trouble and or get this site blocked. And Steve's point valid, with my previous employer(s), if it came up on my desktop during lunch I could have had the sack (they also have scanners for images. No tolerance). Maybe I am paranoid, but I know why. Me: As part of art, I love life drawing. That's all. There is nothing wrong with that at least from art perspective. Everyone knows if a figure is correct or not, all different shapes, sizes, ages, male and female so that is the challenge. And it is a challenge! ![]() ![]() Good luck, Trevor |

Re: Appropriate?
OK, I see what you've done there. You've copied the path to the file, but that's the location of the file on your PC:
There's no way this forum can look inside your PC and see what's there! That would be too scary. What I meant was, upload the files to the HotChiPs server, as you'd normally upload to the Friday Challenge. Then look at your post, and copy the address of the image on my server. The simplest way to do this is to click on the image so it opens in another window, and then copy the url from the address bar. Then edit your post and delete the image, and replace it with the link you copied. For example, here's the link to the image you've already posted: http://www.howtocheatinphotoshop.com/cgi-bin/simpleforum_files/attachments/Untitled__16_.jpg Now, people can click the link above to view it. Of course, we could just give in and say yes, go ahead and just post the images as normal, but I think this is a useful learning exercise for you, don't you agree? |

Re: Appropriate?
Good morning Joey, There's no need to actually download Photobucket as it is a web based service. Just go to the website and sign up to the service. You will see it at top right of the home page. As I said, it's free. You can copy the url to a bookmark in your browser so you get instant access. Re: Appropriate?
Thank you, Rob. I've got a handle on the Photobucket process - and am still working on the other, between life getting in the way! Again, thanks - to all whose offered help. Joey _________________ "Art is a blade of grass ... and in a moment I will eat it." |

Re: Appropriate?
I noticed you had sorted it about five minutes after I offered. Maybe I should read the forum backwards. _________________ I've fallen and I can't get up. |
