Which Wacom?
My birthday is coming up and my sister asked me what I wanted. I told her I wanted a graphics tablet. However, I don't know which one would be the best. Just which model should I tell her to get? I have limited space so I need a small one.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I have a number of tablets, and at the moment I'm mainly using the smallest Bamboo pen & touch - it works like a trackpad with your finger, as well as a tablet. Very pleased with it.

The Bamboo Pen and Touch is a great tablet. Depending on how sisterly she's feeling, you might want to push for the Intuos A6, which is also lovely.

Re: Which Wacom?
I know I was told that it would take 2-3 weeks to get used to the Wacom, but I've only been using it for 3 days and it seems more natural than the mouse. However, I am a very tactile person to begin with. The only problem I have is that the model my sister got me doesn't fit on my computer tray with the keyboard. That, and I still reflexively reach for the mouse. Maybe that's what will take me 2-3 weeks to get used to. I highly recommend this device for all those who don't have one.

David,

I keep getting a keyboard icon that keeps getting in the way of things. How do I get the keyboard icon to go away?

Not quite sure what you mean by that Sarah. Under what circumstances does this appear?

Every time I move the cursor to a new location I get a little keyboard icon. It would make sense if it were appearing only when I was trying to put the cursor in a text box, but it was doing it yesterday while I was in Photoshop.

I wish I could help but the truth is I have absolutely no idea. Does this only happen with the pen and slate? Are you Windows or OS X?

Windows unfortunately. I've been trying to get a screen shot of it but as soon as I hit control, it disappears.

Re: Which Wacom?
Yes well I am a Mac user so this may be something Windows connected as well as Wacom connected.

I would suggest you go to Wacom's web site and check the user forum's for your tablet. You may find someone else who has had a similar problem. If not you can pose the question in the forum.

They also offer email technical support. It is a long time since I last used it but I remember they were very helpful.

Good luck. It's well worth the effort to get it working properly. Drawing with a slate, once you are used to it, is just wonderful!

I know Steve said it would take 2-3 weeks to get used to, but already the mouse seems like an enormous brick in my hand. I just wish I had a larger keyboard tray.

I'm going to spend some time on Wacom's Web site today.
