Very true, the previous incarnation (YZDock) found itself in front of the judge.

Re: Uploading images
I've always worked on Macintosh computers, but I've started taking classes in web design which are taught on PCs. I get so confused. It's more than extra button on the mouse, it's the whole browser thing. I can't get use to managing my files through a browser, I love being able to grab a file and drag it to a folder somewhere on my hard drive, then renaming the file and folder just by clicking on it.

I lose more files when I'm working on the PC. On the Mac, if I need to look for a file, I can dig through a bunch of folders, then if I want it on the desktop, I just drag it there.

The biggest advantage to the Mac is the programming language AppleScript and a very robust application Script Editor. Script Editor is an editor, assembler and compiler in one application. The programming language is an Object Oriented Program, like C and JavaScript, but you use simple english to write its commands. You don't need to be a programmer to use it.

The Script Editor works with Apple's Event Manager and you can create fantastic programs. Adobe now writes extensive AppleScript dictionaries in the Macintosh versions of their programs. AppleScript puts Photoshop's Actions on steroids.

I write programs that process folders full of files. I just drop a folder on an icon and several applications like Photoshop and QuarkXPress start jumping and banging and beeping and when the smoke clears, I'll have several new folders full of images in various sizes and formates, all color-corrected and placed in Quark documents. It's a wonderful thing to witness.

I'm not sure which version of windows you've been using but since '95, you've been able to drag and drop.

OK, admittedly, PCs don't inherently have script level file assosiation but I'm sure someone has probably rip..written one for the PC

Gosh I started this topic and now it's everywhere...what fun! I use a PC at school and have been a Mac person since the very beginning 20+ years ago. Running a Mac means i can learn more programs quicker. The mouse (one button) operates 10 times better than most PC. In fact, before I had a tablet, I used to rely on a track ball. Try that on a PC screen. But most important of all is the total integration. I no longer call for tech support. I can fix just about everything myself and I'm no geeky-boy. I don't give a hoot about stylin' (but it's nice) I do care about simplicity. That's it in nutshell...

And now the great irony...much of my best advice about photoshop coms from this forum which seems to be mostly PC folks. So maybe it it isn't the tool but rather the tool user that counts.

Anyways, if I might divert your attention...i posted a message in the General Comments forum called "questiion about why, rather than how for pages 60-61". I'd be keen to get your great brains on this one if you have the time.

Re: Uploading images
I started with my beloved Commodore 64 (probably 'before your time' for most of you...LOL) it took twenty minutes to load a program off tape. I have had some kind of portable ever since. I have never had a Mac, Toshiba brought out the early 'portables'. My first "portable" was about the size of a small suitcase, at six feet tall and fairly fit, I could hardly lift it

PCs do freeze....why is that? Do Macs never freeze? I find some programs freeze more than others.....Dreamweaver mx for instance seems to freeze given the slightest excuse...a mere chill does it.
