Creating a cloud of dust
I have a photo of a rural road going off at sunset all the way to the horizon to which I have added an old (1940's) car photographed from the rear. I have applied a bit of motion blur to the car to give an illusion of it driving along. Since it is a dirt road I would like to add a cloud of dust coming out of the rear tires. That is the part that I need help with. Thanks. |

Well, im a simple man, my idea could be rubbish, but try it atleast. Get a soft edged brush. put it to a low opacity and set to near enough the colour of the road and put it on the picture around where you want it. I hope I helped ![]() |

Re: Creating a cloud of dust
First, choose a large, soft brush, at an opacity of around 20%. Change its mode to Dissolve (the brush, not the layer) and, on a new layer, paint some dust with a colour sampled from the road. Then paint some more using a slightly lighter shade. Finally, add a little Gaussian Blur to the dust to soften the edges. Simple! |

Re: Creating a cloud of dust
I made a few subtle tweaks, motion blur for one and softened up the tracks in the dirt. ![]() _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

Re: Creating a cloud of dust
Actually, if we're being realistic here, there wouldn't be much kicked up from the rear wheels as this car is front-wheel drive. ![]() _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |
