Incompatible .psd file
Hello all, I am haivng an issue with a .psd file. Last night I saved my project as I have many times. This morning, the file will not open. System says the .psd file won't open in my version of Photoshop (version 7). That's interesting since I only have version 7, and every other .psd I have will open. I still have the thumbnail of the document in My Pictures. CAn anyone solve this one? ![]() |

Re: Incompatible .psd file
Sounds like a corrupted file, Jeff - which is very rare in Photoshop, these days. Can you open it in anything else? If you're using a Mac, then Graphic Converter can open most files and resave them. There are probably similar utilities on a PC - ideas, anyone? - but I'm not aware of them. If you like, try emailing the image to me (assuming it's not absolutely huge) and I'll try to open and resave it here. Best of luck with this one! Steve |

I know that you can import a .psd file into Macromedia Flash via Quicktime however it will be converted to a bitmap which isn't any good if you really need seperate layers. Have you tried opening the file in Illustrator if it will allow you to do this you can at least retain much of the layer information? _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

I do't have Ilustrator. Wish I did! I tried Insome program called Infranview, but the image comes up as solid black. And apparently Paintshop doesn't like .psd files at all ![]() Jeff |

You are using Windows, you may be able to recover the file by running "chkdsk". Check windows "Help" for additional information on the chkdsk command. Best of luck! John |
