how to get that aged film look...?
hi all! just looking for some suggestions and/or filters that can give you that old aged yellowish film look...either generated from a color or b/w photo. thanks! |

The quickest way would be to desaturate your image and use colour balance to give it the yellow hue. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

what if it's a black and white or a greyscale? |

If it's greyscale already, you'll need to set the mode to RGB before you can add colour. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

If this is what you mean: The original was desaturated. The colour was added with the hue/saturation dialog with Colorize checked. The levels were adjusted for contrast. A little Gaussian Noise was added and then finally, a small amount of Gaussian Blur  _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

i appreciate your help david. here is the example that i am trying to old filmize. i adjusted it to rgb and then can messed with the hue/saturation a got a somewhat of a old film look...will add some graininess to that and some scratch. but wondering if you took this photo and were to olderize it what exactly would you do to it and what would it look like.  |

Hmm, still not entirely sure what effect is needed. Here's another guess. This time, I created a solid fill layer. The colour was set to a rich cream hue. The blend mode was set to colour. I added some soft film grain and adjusted the brightness and contrast.  _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

thanks david for your help, i really appreciate the time your taking in letting me see how/what you're thinking. i can definately see how to do this now with your assistance. i think i need some more graniness but would actually like a scratch or two (maybe) here is what i'm thinking:
