Hmm, shouldn't take you to IR. Historically, SFW is an Image Ready sub-program. If you use 24 bit, you lose all the options and you just have resize if necessary. 8 bit is similar to saving as GIF format and gives the options of transparency, masking, etc. I still couldn't force it to start IR (PS 7). _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

Re: saving file as web safe...??
I've tried it on my Windows PC and it saves okay. However if you close the file and re-open it by double clicking it, you will open it in Image Ready, which is correct. If you look in Control Panel/Folder Options, select the File Types tab, then scroll down to png and select it, you will see which program is associated with the file (Image Ready). To open the file in Photoshop, first open Photoshop and choose the file from the File/Open menu. |

Re: saving file as web safe...??
good facts there david about the 24 bit versus 8 bit. so you're saying then to retain the transpercy factor that i need to use 8 bit in my "saves as's" instead of 24 bits(?). i was having an issue with a cool effect that i can't duplicate right now, this might be why. all right, thanks all. ![]() |

That's at work on the PC. I have CS2 on the Mac. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |
