Working with imported EPS files?
Hello,

I have two problems when bringing Freehand/Illustrator EPS files into Photoshop:

1) Does anyone know how to maintain the correct CMYK colours when importing an EPS file. My original EPS is set to the CMYK values I need, but when I open it in PS, all the colours are wrong - not even close! Any help would be appreciated?

2) As an EPS file has a transparent background when opened in PS, is it possible to make a selection of it and change the colour WITHOUT the anti-aliasing being lost on the edges? It always goes jaggy, and it drives me crazy.

I'm sure I am missing a simple solution to these questions, but have so far not been able to solve them...

Re: Working with imported EPS files?
1) A tricky one. Are you using CS2? Colour management is a lot smoother between the applications if you are. Otherwise, it's probably a colour setting preference in PS that's going haywire. Take a look in the Color Preferences dialog: it might work best if you check Preserve Embedded Profiles in the CMYK setting. Also, check your CMYK space setting, which may be different to the one you use in Illustrator.

2) The anti-aliasing is being lost, I'd say, because of the way you're selecting the area. If you're using the Magic Wand, then expand the selection - or use the Lasso tool - to include some of the transparent area around the edges, which should make a difference.

If you're having trouble with a specific file, then post it here so we can see more clearly what the problem is!
