hey all! there has to be a way to do this i'm just not smart enough to figure it out. i have a pic, i want 50% of it kept and the other 50% changed. so i cut out the 50% that i want changed and make a new layer...i put this on top of the existing 100% layer (the bottome layer is the original and the top layer is the 50% cutout that i want changed). so what do i do with the 50% cutout layer to make it block out the bottom original. i don't want to see any portion/or bleed from the bottom layer that the top layer is sitting on. does my question make sense? do you know what i'm asking? thanks so much! |

Surely the fact that the 50% layer is above the original will block out that portion of the original? Or is it not an even 50%? _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

well i thought the same thing david, but the bottom layer is a dark color and the top layer is a lighter color and i'm getting bleed through which is resulting in a totally new different color! lol! i was screwing around with layer and layer masks and tried filling stuff w/ black and it wasn't working...then right clicked on the mask (to disable) and got an x through it and all of a sudden it worked! but i have no idea what i did but i backed out because i hadn't copied that layer yet in case something went wrong. i'm wanting the top layer to "punch through" what is below it, totally. |

never mind...i had the blend mode set to color...not normal. |
