10 bladed razor problem
While watching the Superbowl last night, I saw an ad for Gillette's new 5-bladed razor. This got me thinking...how many can you have before it's TOO many?! ![]() Well, I took a photo of my Mach 3 and tried to duplicate one blade to make it ten. Since the razor was a little angled when I took it, an issue of the edges lining up was created as I created more duplicated blades. I lined up each on the left side and then figured I'd be able to transform each blade layer on the right side to line up. I've tried skewed, perspective, distort and warp and I'm having no luck! When I try to tweak the right side of each layer to line up with the layer below it, the left end of the layer gets out of line, no matter what transform effect I'm using. In the photo below, you'll be able to see each copied blade layer out of line on the right side. Any suggestions on how to line up each layer on one end w/o effecting the other end? Thanks! EDIT: Photos removed. |

looks ok to me cept for the right hand side edge.... I just copied the edge from the original and free transformed it to fit...... dunno if that's any better? ![]() |

Hmmm...not sure what you did there. It's lined up, but I guess I'm still a bit confused of your process. |

Re: 10 bladed razor problem
Jimt, the right of the razor at the edge on your its all pixelated and rough, Dalton just got the left hand side bit that looks fine and free transformed it in Hope you now see the change, great idea though Jimt _________________ 3 Radio Visit http://www.3-radio.co.uk and listen! Re: 10 bladed razor problem
The right side looks pixilated because those are the different duplicate layers not lining up. Ok, I think I've figured out what he did, but that involved pasting the original section of the razor blade over the top and stretching it out, right? What I want to know is if I can tweak the end of each independent layer on the right end to line up (the "pixilated" look) and not effect the other end, which is lined up nicely. I suppose I could have avoided the problem to begin with by A) taking a more "straight-on" photo, or B) transforming the original photo to be lined up before I duplicated anything. However, that would have been taking the easy route. I'd like to know that harder way to do it for those "real world" situations when I don't have the convenience of controlling the original image. |

Re: 10 bladed razor problem
I tried adding the blades your way Jimt and found I could line up the right side using Free Transform as shown. ![]() |

Re: 10 bladed razor problem
Thanks, Rufus...I tried that but it moves the selection in too big off chunks to get it lined up perfectly. I guess I'll just cheat and free transform the original picture to be lined up perfectly vertical before I try duplicating the blades. Thanks for your help. Jim |

Re: 10 bladed razor problem
Jim, try increasing the resolution of the image and turning off Snap (View/Snap), this should give you smoother movement when you drag the handle. rufus |

Jim when using the free transform tool you can nudge one pixel at a time using the keyboard arrow keys! |
