Text Editing Problem
I have posted a topic before about not being able to edit a layer of text. And the problem was solved by double clicking the thumbnail of the text layer. Since then, my computer fatally crashed, and I had to purchase another. I reinstalled Photoshop CS2, and now I can't edit the text in my layer. When I double click on the thumbnail, It goes to the blending options pallet. And when I click on the text next to the thumbnail, It wants me to change the title of the layer, and not the layer itself.

Another problem, is that when I try to select a layer in the workspace, it doesn't select and I have to go to the thumbail tab of the layer, search for the layer, and select it there. This happens even when the layer I am trying to select is on the top. I know that if I right click on the layer, I can select it there, but if it is possible to change it back the way I like it, I would much rather do it that way.

Also, most of my fonts are missing. Both in Photoshop and Illustrator, when I open a file I had backed up on a cd, it replaces the fonts that I used on the other computer. Both are running Windows XP.

Re: Text Editing Problem
The first problem sounds like the layer has been rasterised, it's behaving like a bitmap layer, rather than a type layer.

Not sure about the second problem. One trick is to select the Move tool, hold Ctrl and click the layer in the document. Its should make it the active layer (unless it's within a group).

The third is almost certainly because you had additional fonts installed on the old PC. Possible individually or as the result of installing another program. Depending on which font it is, you may be able to find a replacement on one of the free sites such as http://www.dafont.com

Re: Text Editing Problem
with the text behaving like a bitmap, is there a way that I can edit?

Excellent font site, thank you.

Re: Text Editing Problem
If it's been converted, no - well, not in the way you'd normally edit fonts. You can still alter it as a normal layer.
