Quick Mask 3: pp. 12 & 13 - Steps 7, 8, and 9
Had no trouble with steps 1-6. On step 7 it says to draw a rect. and enter Q-mask. I tried a regular rect. but was unable to get Q-mask to turn it pink. Went to a rect. marquee and was able to enter Q-mask. After drawing the circle and moving it to the end I was unable to get the end to become rounded as shown in step 8. Had no problem moving the circle to the other end, but then again was unable to get the rounded end.
Help would be appreciated. thanks, This is my first post.

Sounds to me as if, after drawing the circle, you're moving the selection boundary, rather than the contents. Are you sure you changed to the Move tool before dragging the circle?

Let us know if this works for you, and welcome to the forum!

Still does not work. The problem seems to be in step 8, pg. 13. Using the move tool I am able to move the circle to the end of the rectangle that I drew with the marquee tool , then entering Q- mask. When I move the circle to the other end it leaves a square corner, not the rounded corner as shown in the picture.

Are you holding the Alt key when you drag the circle? Without that, you are dragging the original, rather than making a copy.

Yes, I am. First, am I correct in assuming that the rectangle is drawn with the marquee tool and not the rectangle tool. Only the marquee tool responds to Q-mask. I moved the circle outside the rectangle and the the [alt] + Move Tool made a copy to move to the other end. It is just when I have gone to both ends with the circle and exit Q-mask, the Circles are gone leaving nothing to fill.

Thank you for your help and reply to my question.
