"Color by Numbers" 2nd Edition, page 24
In step 3, I've tried to paste an open image of a sky from my file browser into the example image on the CD. The book states that the "new sky will be positioned within the selection....". When I paste the new sky into the selection, it covers the foreground and doesn't conform to the selection. What am I (obviously) doing wrong?

Re:
Ron,

It sounds like you're using the regular Paste command. You need to use Paste Into from the Edit menu or by pressing Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+V.

Re:
David,
Thank you for your reply. Like a moron, I forgot to add that when I tried to use the Ctrl+Shift+V, nothing happened at all. And that was with a photo open from the file browser. Even the "Paste Into" did nothing-except one time when it pasted the scene into the sky. Sorry!

Re:
If nothing happens when you do Ctrl Shift V, then there are three likely reasons:

1. There's nothing copied to the clipboard. Are you sure you copied the whole sky image first? Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C?

2. There's no selection to paste into. Can you see the 'marching ants' selection boundary? Are you sure you didn't click off it accidentally?

3. You're accidentally in QuickMask mode, or on a layer mask. Make sure the name of the file, shown at the top of the window, ends in "RGB/8" and not either of these other two modes.

Let us know if none of these work
