Gradient Fill - I'm sure it's right in front of my face
I am trying to adjust the direction of the Gradient Fill tool in a Layer Mask (pg 57 of the fabulous book), but I don't see it. At one point, I had a dialog box under Layer>New Fill Layer>Gradient that allowed me to adjust the direction...but I can't find it back. I'm sure it is staring me in the face...if I were prone to not accepting responsibility for silly things, I would blame it on the fact that I have been using Corel Draw/Photo-Paint for the last few years |

Re: Gradient Fill - I'm sure it's right in front of my face
Welcome to the forum, wetdirt. This is not such a silly question. The gradient fill layer is different to the gradient used in the tutorial. The former is an adjustment layer. A layer in its own right which will always fill the whole of the document and thus needs the directional controls. To achieve the results in the book, you have to use the gradient tool (keyboard: G). The direction is controlled by angling the marker line. For instance, dragging it from to left to bottom right will result in diagonal banding. Left to right, the gradient will spread horizontally, etc. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |
