selection - again!
I had problems selecting the glass bowl in chapter 9, so I cheated. Selected the glass bowl (minus stem) with elliptical marquee. Then stiched to quick mask and expanded the selection until it overlapped the edges of the bowl - then got rid of the "extra" quickmask using eraser. Sorry, but this is the only way I could do it. Are there any shortfalls caused using this method? |

The only potential problem here is losing the ellipse outline using the eraser. It is tricky to get this one right - did you try holding the space bar as you drew the initial ellipse? |

It looks fine to me but I think I'm going to keep trying this exercise. It's one area of Photoshop that I have most difficulty with. Is it possible to make an elliptical selection with a pen - I'm much happier using it than the ellipse tool. |

Yes, use the shape tool set to path mode. _________________ If you hold on to the past. sooner or later you'll lose your grip. |
