Adjustment layers
When I create an adjustment layer, it seems to be affecting all of the layers. Is there something I need to select to adjust the selected layer only? _________________ Steve Mac |

Re: Adjustment layers
As far as I know adjustment layers affect everything below them in the layer order. Although you can use the layer you want to affect as a clipping layer for the adjustment layer. That seems to have the effect you want. Not sure what the limitations are though. |

Re: Adjustment layers
Making a clipping layer from the layer beneath is certainly the best solution. If you want the adjustment layer to apply to several layers beneath, then load up the selection for each layer by ctrl-shift clicking on the layer thumbnails; then, when you make the adjustment layer, it will come with a mask to match that selection area. |

Re: Adjustment layers
Okay, so how do I make a clipping layer. I think I can make one, I'm just not sure what to do with it once I create it. _________________ Steve Mac |

Re: Adjustment layers
To create a clipping layer. position the cursor between the two thumbnails in the layer palette. Hold the alt/option key and the cursor will change to a lock symbol. Click the mouse. The top thumbnail will shift to the right indicating it's clipped. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

Re: Adjustment layers
Or, press opt-command-G (alt-ctrl-G) when the Adjustment Layer is active, to clip it with the layer beneath. |

Re: Adjustment layers
That too. Although it does change depending on which version - three cheers for continuity ![]() _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |
