There's a section on this in the book - pages 238-239 in the third edition. That covers making things look metallic; you just have to add red and yellow to make it gold.

I placed a tutorial Turning non-metallic objects into gold.

This Tutorial can be found in the TUTORIALS Section of this forum.

Please note that the "Curves" procedure was stolen from Steve's book by me.
