Selection:the fundamentals
Virtual novice. Page 4 Every time I try to follow the simple selection of the tyre using the Alt key, releasing the mouse and then Alt, the apparently correct selection snap shrinks to half the size. Am I very very silly, or making a very simple error? |

Re: Selection:the fundamentals
Hi Harrott and welcome to the forum. Are you releasing both at the same time? It's the only reason I can think for this to happen. You can safely release the mouse and wait indefinitely to release the Alt key. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

Re: Selection:the fundamentals
I let the mouse go, then the Alt. Strange thing is, that a couple of days ago, it worked OK, but practising again, I get this problem. The selection shrinks to half its original size. |

Re: Selection:the fundamentals
In part 1 (page 4) the alt key is used to start the selection from the centre rather than the edge. In part 2 the alt key is used to modify the selection, (subtract from the original selection). It is important to press the alt key first (you can let go of it once you have pressed the mouse button). This should result in two selection elipses one inside the other. rufus |

Re: Selection:the fundamentals
Hate to be a pain over something so simple, but still no joy. With Eliptical selected, start to draw with Alt key held down and then halfway thru, get Warning: No pixels more than 50% selected, the selection edges will not be visible. Either that or the eliptical selection jumps back to half size. ![]() |

I wonder if this is something to do with feathering... check the feathering amount in the tool options bar, it could be you have it set too high. |

Re: Selection:the fundamentals
Rufus, you are a genius. Changed feathering and lo, a great light shone forth. My thanks. |

Genius? Sadly, no... It's just that I've seen that 'No pixels more than 50% selected' warning before... ![]() |
