Picture show on TV
I'm looking for a programme to run slide shows on a tv via a DVD.

I want to be able to pause to admire the Rembrantness of an image or offer an explanation why it was taken in the first place or to flick through duff or uninteresting pictures quickly (not too many of those)! No music, FX or fancy visual whizbangs.

I suppose like the slide show viewer in WXP.

Ted,

I frequently use Muvee Autoproducer to make slideshows. It's extremely automated and user friendly. There's a free 21 day trial version for Windows XP. I'm not sure if it allows you to export a DVD with the trial version. But it's worth a look.

Simply choose the folder with all your images, choose "Slideshow" under the movie type, and click create movee. It will automatically do the rest for you. Be sure to select the highest quality possible when it asks you. The only thing I don't like about the software is that it takes a pretty long time for the software to render the final movie. The resulting DVD can be played in any DVD player. The results will be a movie, so you'll have to use play/pause during your presentation.

It does offer special effects and whatnot...but there is an option for a basic slideshow.

If you have any questions about the software, don't hesitate to ask.
I use Version 5.

Also, check out this link. When the page opens, click Quick Tour on the right hand side of the page. When the flash player opens, select Quick Tour on the top right. This will show you how to make the slideshow, quickly.

By the way, for others viewing this thread...I gues it's worth pointing out that there really isn't an authoring feature to speak of with this software. So, if you decide to make a movie/slideshow with one of the effect presets...you can't change or alter the effect.

I wouldn't recommend the software to someone who wishes to design their own unique slideshow effects or custom authoring. The program doesn't offer that.

Re: Picture show on TV
Slide show is a basic DVD function, so almost any program designed for building a DVD will do this. An inexpensive one that I have used on occasion is power producer. You should be able to google for it. Again you will need to use the pause function on your DVD, but you can set the amount of time to stop on each slide.

If your viewing on a TV that you can plug a laptop to you can just use powerpoint presentations. Thats probably one of the simplest solutions if your using a windows based computer. I don't know about DVD's
