p. 8 & 9 Better selection
Now my husband is trying this page. It seems like a whole step between steps 7 & 8 has been left out. When he tries to remove the background, even the man turns color. What is going wrong? Is there somewhere in the book that tells in detail about removing the background? This step seems to continue to give both of us problems. |

Re: p. 8 & 9 Better selection
Not sure what you mean my "even the man turns color" but once you have painted your man with the quickmask as described in the book - press "Q" to change from Quickmask to a Selection by then pressing Ctrl+J or (Cmd+J on the Mac) this will make a copy of the man without the background to a new layer above the original picture. You can see this if you click the 'eye icon' of the background layer in the Layer Palette to switch off the background image, then you can commence from step 8. Hope that helps. |

Re: p. 8 & 9 Better selection
It seems from what you say that there may be two problems here: 1. You have QuickMask set to show Masked Areas, rather than Selected Areas. So after you've painted the mask, it's the space around the man that's selected. Can you check this? 2. After the man is copied to a new layer, the background can be hidden or filled with white - your choice. Does this help? |
