Pgs 62 and 63
Hi Folks! I did all the steps on these pages and saved my two layers. Now I want to experiment in After Effects 6.5. I imported the file as a cropped composition but my blending options do not come in with my layers. The airplane and clouds look like they have not been effected at all. Any Ideas on what I may be doing wrong? Page 62 gives the impression that this should work (as well as other articles on the web I have read. Many Thanks. _________________ "That's a great choice... Odd - this should work. Are you able to see any adjustments that could be made in AE? It's a while since I've used it, and I don't have 6.5 to experiment with. |

Re: Pgs 62 and 63
I have tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas... (not really.) I'm somewhat versed in AE and I still can't find any specific tools or settings to adjust for this situation. I went back to CS2 and changed the blending mode of the plane to color so the difference would be obvious. then re-imported to AE. That worked fine. But any changes I make in the "Blend if" section of Layer style is a no show. Also I added a text layer with a layer style and imported to AE. The text comes in but the layer style is a no show. It only shows up when I merge the text layer with a new empty layer in CS2, then reimport. Making the layer style into its own layer and then bringing it in worked too. But I still can not get my "blend ifs" to come over. Which is too bad because if they did that would really be a powerful trick. anybody got any suggestions? You guys are great. _________________ "That's a great choice... It's the WRONG one, but a great choice." |

Re: Pgs 62 and 63
This is most odd. I've checked in AE, and can't find a way of getting the blending to come through from Photoshop. Strange, I was sure it was possible. Here's a workaround: duplicate the layer you want to have semi-transparent, and use the This Layer blending to take out unwanted areas. So on the clouds/plane example, you'd need to work on the Clouds layer: copy it above the plane, then use Blend If to take the blue out so you can see the plane behind it. Then make a new, blank layer beneath the clouds, and merge the clouds layer down into that. All the blue will disappear from this layer. Now when you import into AE it should work fine! Hope this helps. |
