Can anyone tell me how to make the pictures that I have attached. I have been successful in converting pictures to two colours, but not the four or five colour effects

This is fairly straightforward. Make a copy of your image, and use the Threshold command to reduce it to black and white. As you drag the slider, you'll be able to control the amount of black in the image.

Make two or three copies, using different settings so that there are different amounts of black on each one. Then set the mode of them to Multiply, so the white disappears; use Hue/Saturation to colour each layer until you get the effect you want.

I work for a small company that specialises in printing "pop art" images onto canvas.

We tend to favour the cutout filter.

That third picture looks like vector image.

Here is a photo


Simple Cutout (settings 8/3/2)


Sometimes it might improve things to keep the original behind and use overlay. it adds a bit of fine detail.
