Any changes to modifier keys between versions?
Hi all- I recently bought "How to Cheat...," the 3rd ed. for CS2. It is a great book and a real help. But I wonder if there are any modifiers that do not work in earlier versions of Photoshop? I use Photoshop CS. For example, p. 22, Lock and load, describes how to add and subtract selections by clicking layer thumbnails. While I can subtract a selection using option & command, I cannot add a selection using command & shift. The shift key doesn't modify the command key. There are a few other modifier oddities I've run into but didn't kept track. I know the book talks about some functions (like Warp) that Photoshop CS version lacks. What about modifier keys? Thanks, -Robert ![]() |

As far as I remember, Robert, there are no differences in shortcuts between CS and CS2. Adding to a selection by shift-command-clicking should certainly work. Are you sure the second layer whose thumbnail you click on has some content? It's not an empty layer? I'm away for the weekend shortly, but if you still have problems I'm sure someone else here can help you out. Welcome to the forum Steve |

Hi, Robert and welcome, Just tried this and it works fine on my humble PC. Are you sure you're clicking the thumbnail, not the layer name? I even got Alt+ Ctrl + Shft (Command + Option + Shift) to select the overlap!! Dave _________________ To strive for perfection for yourself is laudible. To demand it from others is not. |

You are right. I wasn't in the active layer. ![]() |
