Text layers want updating
I was just wondering why I get this dialogue whenever I open a psd file with text layers in it, even though I just saved it from PS.

Re: Text layers want updating
Obvious question, Dave - are you pressing No rather than Update?

If you are updating, then it's most likely either a Preferences issue or, possibly, a corrupt font.

Re: Text layers want updating
I have tried pressing both No, and Update. I really don't see any difference either way. I doesn't seem to matter which font I use, and doesn't seem to change anything whether I update or not. It's not really a big deal, but it does have me curious.

Re: Text layers want updating
It seems you are 100% correct, Dave. This from the Adobe Developer website:

Issue
I sometimes get a warning dialog in Photoshop when opening a PSD file that has been modified by Adobe Server.
"Some layers might need to be updated before they can be used for vector based output. Do you want to update these layers now?"

Applies to
Adobe Graphics Server
Adobe Document Server

Solution
Click Update and save the file and the warning will no longer occur.

This is due to Photoshop being overly sensitive. In most cases you'll get exactly the same result by clicking either No or Update.
Clicking "No" will leave the text rendered exactly as Adobe Server rendered it.
Clicking "Update" will cause Photoshop to re-render the text.

It's a 'feature'!

Re: Text layers want updating
Hmmm, interesting. I am not using the Adobe server but saving to my local drive.

When I click update and save, then close the file and re-open, I get the same message again.

Not that it is a big deal, but it does have me wondering.

Any way, Dave, thanks for that info.
