Layer mask
Can you delete a selection in a layer mask, or can you only use the brush to paint things in and out? Cheers Chris |

Re: Layer mask
You can use any of the painting or selection tools in a Layer mask. So if you want to hide a large area, for instance, then select it with the Lasso or Marquee tools, then (if black is your foreground colour) use option-backspace/alt-backspace to fill the mask with black in that region, hiding that area of the layer. |

Ooh - those pesky little keyboard shortcuts, eh? Thanks, Steve |

Re: Layer mask
You don't have to learn or use any of the shortcuts, Chris: you can always use the paint bucket tool to click inside the selection instead. And if the foreground colour isn't black, you can click on the icon in the tool palette, open the colour picker, choose black from there and close the palette. But there are easier ways! |

Re: Layer mask
Thanks Steve - I'm a big fan of short cuts but I find the paint bucker method easier |
