Hidden Layers...
I seem to have a problem with my new CS3... Seems that layers keep hiding themselves!!

Example- If I make a selection and then try to copy that onto a new layer I get an error saying that there is no selection made and the layer I wish to copy from is greyed out, not hi-lighted blue! I have to double click and then go through a layer-mask dialogue box to get the layer hi-lighted again...

Am I doing something wrong or is there some box I should tick somewhere??

There is so much new stuff that I am trying to get the hang of at the mo, serves me right for switching from CS to CS3 I spose But this little quirk is driving me insane!!! (See 3 exclaimation marks already!!!!)

Re: Hidden Layers...
I also use the new CS3, and--occasionally-- I also get the same error which is simply rectified by re-clicking the layer from which the selection has been made to make it active again, and proceeding from there, which in my case is Ctrl + J for the selection to be put onto its own new layer.

I had the same problem with CS2 too!

Re: Hidden Layers...
Thanks Michael... it wouldnt be too bad if I just had to re-select the layer I wanted to copy from but I have to double click and go into an adjustment screen to select it again! It is making any work take twice as long, starting to get tempted to go back to CS again LOL

Re: Hidden Layers...
In CS2 (and CS3) it became possible to select multiple layers at the same time, by shift-clicking on their thumbnails. Of course, this also means you can select no layers, if you accidentally shift-click on the icon of a selected layer.

Is it possible this is what's happening here?

Re: Hidden Layers...
Tabitha my cs3 does the excat same thing and it drives me mad but I think it is a bug in the system rather than someting I have done wrong because at times the blue box will appear again of its own accord
