selecting a layer when the layers are in a foler
Hi there,

Normally you can select a layer by either clicking on the layer itself in the layers menu but if you ctrl + click on your working image that also takes you to the corresponding layer in the layers pallet. I know that you can find it by naming the layer but this takes time when you have 100's of layers and therefore I group my layers into folders.

HOWEVER............

Once I have my layers into folders and want to find a layer by using the ctrl + click on the image itself, it only takes me to the folder itself and NOT the acutal layer.

Any way around this? It is such a pain!!!

Thanks!!!!

Depending on which version of Photoshop you're using, you should be able to uncheck 'auto select groups' from the Move tool's Options bar. This should let you select a layer from within a group (folder).

Alternatively, hold Control (Mac) or right click (Win) and when you click on the artwork, you'll get a pop-up menu of all the layers under the cursor, from which you can select the one you want.
