Finding Brushes
Hi all,
Forgive my stupidity but I give up! I need help please.
I have been collecting brushes for quite while and had a reasonable collection - not huge but getting there. I hadn't and still haven't, worked out how to 'Group' and save the brushes into any kind of folders so they were all there in my palette all mixed in with each other.
Then one day I somehow told the preset manager to reset my default (not absolutely sure if that is the correct terminology, but I'm sure you know what I mean?). I then promptly lost all the additional brushes I had uploaded over the months.

So, my question is please...Have I lost them for good, are they gone off into the ether? Or are they possibly lingering in hiding somewhere in the depths of my Mac/CS5?

As usual, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Finding Brushes
By resetting your brushes panel you have certainly deleted them from your copy of Photoshop. However, all is not necessarily lost!

A couple of possible solutions:

1. Assuming you downloaded these brushes, rather than creating them from scratch, the original downloads will probably be on your computer somewhere. Try searching for the ".abr" extension and it might well turn them up.

2. As you're using a Mac, are you using Time Machine to do automatic backups? If so, open your Photoshop Brushes folder, and use Time Machine to skip back to yesterday, or whenever it was that's just before you deleted them, and restore the brushes file from there.

Hope this works!

BRILLIANT!

Yes that's it. Yes I do use Time Machine and they should be on there.

Thanks so much Steve, that is such a great help.

Regards

Thank you for your assistance Steve, just to let you know that my Spotlight Search found all my missing brushes.
