Transparent gifs
hi I tried everything with the Save for Web and Devices option in order to save an animated gif, but it wonīt preserve the transparency no matter what...itīs a little frustrating, is there some kind of a hidden trick here? itīs a really tiny 10 frames gif --100 x 40 pixels I would really appreciate any help |

Re: Transparent gifs
Just tried it, and it seems to work fine for me. Can you post a screen grab of your layers panel and of the Save for Web dialog, so I can check them out? |

Re: Transparent gifs
thanks Steve here is a picture of the settings, btw I use PSCS4 the gif with its transparent background was intented as a prop for a little 2d game, since I failed with Photoshop I tried with the native tools of the software Iīm using for the game and it worked just fine...so the problem was solved but still canīt understand why PS didnīt make it... ![]() screengif por daviz84, en Flickr Iīm including the original gif I downloaded from internet with its solid background I have to say though that Iīm very excited about the possibilities PS has for making animations from scratch, I shall be uploading my first attempts soon thanks a lot ![]() |

Re: Transparent gifs
David, I've just taken your original and knocked the background out of all the layers, and resaved it as a GIF with the same settings you used. As far as I can see, it works fine - it has come out with transparency, as you wanted. Perhaps the problem is not with Photoshop, but with the application you're bringing the GIF into? Steve ![]() |

Re: Transparent gifs
he well it is clearly transparent now (I can see the pink background), I think you are right and it might be that particular application not showing it properly for some reason...if I keep thinking about that itīll drive me nuts...here is a sample of the style of this game Iīm making, everything but the flames was directly done in Photoshop ...speaking of which, how about a tutorial on making realistic flames, Iīve just seen tons of online tutorials with poor results at least for me thanks again ![]() |

Re: Transparent gifs
Well, I cover candle flames both in How to Cheat in Photoshop and in 100% Photoshop, but if you're looking for more dramatic fire effects... sure, I'll put it in the next edition of How to Cheat in Photoshop! Hope you manage to get your GIF issue sorted out. It really doesn't seem to be a Photoshop problem. Intriguing game... |

Re: Transparent gifs
100 % photoshop has proved been really useful, mainly for some simple and yet impressive tricks on how to make stuff from scratch like the wall background above...itīs like a HTCIPS Companion or something, looking forward for that tutorial-within the next 24 months I guess |
