Hi all, How do you show the hidden area after having cropped an image with "hide cropped area" radio button selected? Thanks, Martti |

Typically, you would choose the 'image' menu and select 'reveal all'. However, hide will not work if you are cropping an image with only a background layer. You must convert it to a regular layer before cropping. _________________ Lonnie |

Hi Martti I've never used this before, so a very interesting question, which has taught me something today - thanks. The help function came to the rescue. Firstly, the Hide option will not work on a background layer, so the background must be converted to an editable layer. This is achieved by double clicking on the thumbnail and a dialogue will appear. Layer 0 is the default. If you select Hide, PS will preserve the cropped area in the image file. You can make the hidden area visible by moving the image with the Move tool . It also says 'Select Delete to discard the cropped area', but I could not make this work. Instead I selected all and went to Image - Crop. Given that you can undo a crop, I'll probably stick to the standard approach, i.e. delete, but hiding does allow you to fine tune the crop without undoing the command. Nick |

Setting the Crop tool to Delete means that if any layers extend outside the edges of the canvas, they'll be cut off - and it can be a real pain discovering half an hour later that a figure you positioned at the bottom of the screen now has no legs. Setting the tool to Hide will preserve the entire layers intact, even if they extend outside the bounds of the image. |

cof, cof... well.... I must admit is the first time I realise there's a "hide" option into the crop tool... I feel dumb 
but happy for being here and have learned this
