fire with out smpke cs3
I know we are into cs 5 but I have cs3 and in the cs3 book chapter 7 Making fire without smoke. step 3 says to lock the layer and then render red and yellow clouds. The problem is when you lock the layer you can't access the render filter! |

I got it. The lesson shows using the / key to lock the layer, when I did it locked the whole layer. Now i am able to do it I am not shure why I couldn't before. |

Hello, I think your problem is that you have locked the image pixels rather than the transparent pixels. If you look at the attached screen shot, you need to click on the 1st box, and not the 2nd. By clicking on the 2nd box you cannot access the Filters, by clicking on the 1st you can. Tried this in CS3 just to make sure. ![]() |

Yes your right that's what I was doing, That is a cool technique for fire if you play with it it gets better. I am new to this forum so I am not sure how to post an image or I would show you what I did. Thanks |
