Changinng History Exercise
Thank you for including this exercise in the book. However, what would you do if the company you worked for had taken their Christmas photo which they were going to give to their clients, but suddenly the VP of Administrative Operations leaves the company (under mysterious circumstances) and a new V.P. of Administrative Operations has been hired as a replacement but has yet to start working. Your boss gives you a photo of the new V.P. and tells you it shouldn't be any problem for you to work your magic and insert the new V.P. into the Christmas photo because you are the guru of Photoshop. However, the new V.P. is much taller and a completely different body type from the old one, and the new V.P.'s head is at a completely different angle so simply swapping heads is out of the question. I would love to see an exercise that handled this workaday conundrum. Here is something of what I am talking about using the exercise image. ![]() |

Very nicely achieved! I like the way you've tilted the head back and removed the microphone - but especially, I like the way you've desaturated the new image to match the background. Very good work! |

Re: Changinng History Exercise
Why Thank you! I did work hard to match the rest of the image, but what I like the best is the subtle change of expression I gave the Dali Lama. But what of my question? Can we see an exercise where an entirely different person with different lighting and angles have to be inserted into an existing image with enough believability to maintain guru status in the eyes of our superiors? |

Re: Changinng History Exercise
We have done a Friday Challenge along those lines some time ago - but you're right, it would be a good exercise. Let me see what I can find. |

Thank you for considering my idea. Harder still, the people being exchanged should be different genders, so that a simple head swap wouldn't be believable, and with today's changing demographics in the workplace, a completely plausible scenario. |
