TEXT ISSUES
Hi there: 1)When I am working with text, I always have a hard time going back and selecting the text again to make changes (using the icon in the layers panel). Many times, it does not get selected to a point that I have to write the whole text again. Also when the text has effects (fx), it is impossible to select it again to make any changes. What am I doing wrong?? 2)What do I need to do in order to click a picture and it gets selected right away with out having to go to the layers panel? So frustrating....Thank you so much!! Emy |

Re: TEXT ISSUES
Hi Emy, Not sure what is happening with problem (1). Can we see a screen shot? When you select the Move tool have a look at the top left corner of the screen and you will see a tick box labelled 'auto select layer'. With this enabled you can click on an object in your image and it will select that layer. Be aware that it can display what might appear to be odd behaviour depending on the construction of your layers as it will select the topmost 'visible' layer at the point where you click. For example if you have a layer that is filled with 50% grey and set to hard light blending mode, it is that layer that will be selected if it is above the layer that you want. Whilst it is a handy tool to use, sometimes it can get quite frustrating when it selects layers unintentionally. Gordon _________________ It only seems impossible. |

Re: TEXT ISSUES
Hi GKB, thank you for number 2) it works! . About number 1), It happens to me a lot, only with text, when I click the text layer in the layer panel, the text gets selected, but I cannot make any changes on it, I cannot add text, I cannot change any letter, cannot change colors, I cannot do anything to the text, when I click the text layer on the layer mask, what opens is the FX menu options, that is all. So because of this, when I need to make changes on a text, I have to delete the layer that I was working on and I have to make a completely new layer with the new text that I wanted to add. In the example here attached, the word CAMP 2014 I cannot modify it, because of what I just explained above. I wonder why this happens to me all the time? ![]() |

Re: TEXT ISSUES
If you double click the T in the layers pallet on the text layer you want to edit it will select all the text on that layer and you can edit that way. |

Re: TEXT ISSUES
Is it possible you've locked the layer? When the text layer is selected, are any of the icons to the right of the word Fill selected? Other than that, it's very hard to say. If you're on a Mac, I could watch while you drive your screen and might be able to tell what's going on. |

Re: TEXT ISSUES
Emy, I know this might sound silly but, having selected the text layer in the layers pallette, are you actually highlighting the text on screen or placing the cursor within the text? Only by doing that can you change or add to the text. _________________ ![]() |

Re: TEXT ISSUES
I already erase the text layer and created a new layer with text. This might me a possibility that the layer is locked. If it happens again, I will look to see if it is locked. Thank you |

Re: TEXT ISSUES
GKB, yes, when I click on the text layer, the layer gets highlited, but i am unable to make any changes on it. maybe the layer is locked. I will pay attention next time to see if the layer is locked so no changes can be made. Thank you |

Re: TEXT ISSUES
Let us know how you get on. If you're still having trouble, perhaps I should look at your screen via Skype and see if I can see what's going on. |

Re: TEXT ISSUES
Emy, Hi. If the layer was locked, then it would show a padlock icon next to the fx. My thoughts are you have somehow rasterized your type. (Type>Rasterize Text Layer) Therefore the text will not editable with the text tool. Hope that helps. See attached. Kathryn ![]() |
