Adding depth to flat artwork
I'm stuck on one part of the lesson with the guitar, mainly the part where a section of the guitar is duplicated and filled in the side. You say to group the sampled layer with the side layer and use the transform tool to fill it in. The movie shows the outer edge of the selection being knocked out and the sampled layer moving independently of the selection layer. What am I doing wrong? When I try to merge the layers, I just get both of them moving together and not doing whats happing in the movie. Love the book! Best Photoshop book so far. Jeff S |

Re: Adding depth to flat artwork
Jeff, Sounds to me as if you're linking the duplicated section with the drawn side (so they both move together) rather than grouping them (so the section is only visible where it overlaps the drawn side). If you're using CS, "Grouping" is now called "Create Clipping Mask" - is that where the confusion comes from? Hope that helps! Welcome to the forum, and do enter the Friday Challenge! Steve |
