Is there a way of brushing away to transparency on a image
The vector images for T-shirt design have to be very simple colours 1 or 2 colours and they must not touch. I have been trying to figure out how to make a image two colours and with the help from the other thread I posted I have had some really ideas. Just wondered how to make the colours not touch and if there was a way to brush out a colour so when the T-shirt compant get my Illustrator file to have one of the colours brushed out so would use the colour of the actual t-shirt. Do you understand what I mean? Thanks in advance with any advice on this. Phil |

Why is it important that the colours don't touch? I would have thought you'd want the opposite - some overlap, or 'trapping' is usual in print jobs to avoid white edges around colours. Not quite sure what you mean by 'brushing out' a colour, either! please expain more |

Re: Is there a way of brushing away to transparency on a image
Hi Steve I'll try to explain more, the company that prints the designs said that to print as they are plot printed using flock which is velvety and flex print which has a smooth print. So they arn't allowed to touch or the machine won't work. Heres an example of one design that has a white line seperated the colours. Well what I meant was how do I get the line to seperate the colours, I persume the line is transparent, or is it just a white line and when converted to vector and put into illustrator and sent off as a illustrator file would the white then become transparent. Hope I've made it a bit more clear what I'm on about. Philip ![]() |

Nice pic. What about just putting in white lines where needed, then maybe press control and then the layer on which the lines are, then pressing delete, while making sute the background layer is transparent, would this work Steve? _________________ 3 Radio Visit http://www.3-radio.co.uk and listen! Hi Lexus I tried to do what you said but couldn't quite work it out to, whats press control. It would be good if there was a way to just click on a shape and have it draw a white line about the shape seperating the colours. Although it is rather restricted this, I've been told the do make the best quality T-shirts. Phil |

Phil, What Alex meant was press the CTRL (control) key and click the layer's thumbnail in the Layer Palette. This will load the layer's transparency selection. As for your second question: once the selection is loaded, go to Edt>Stroke. You can create an outline of any thickness and colour that conforms exactly to the outline. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |
