View through a telescope
Hi folks, i'm working on a composition at the moment that i'm wanting to present as if it's being viewed through the inside of a telescope.I cannot for the life of me work out a convincing view, already tried mixing reflections chrome effects but it's not working. any suggestions?

Re: View through a telescope
This is one of those cases where if you showed what it really looked like, no-one would get it. To make it look like a view through a telescope, you have to be inventive! It's the same with the way they show views through binoculars in movies: what you actually see is a single disc, what they show you is a joined pair. It's all a bit of a metaphor, really.

So there are two elements to this one: the barrel of the telescope, and the view. The barrel's probably best dealt with using a radial gradient of very muted silver or brass shades. Has to be quite subtle to work.

The view needs to give the impression of it being seen through a lens. I'd say the way to do this would be to distort the edges - Sphereize or Twirl, perhaps - which would give the idea of the view seen through thick glass.

Interesting question!

This is apparently a photo of a boat taken through a telescope!

I've just had a go at trying to copy the above image using a photo of me...

Aha! So you're not James Dean after all!

Re: View through a telescope
I like to think of myself as James Dean after the accident!

That photo was taken 3 years ago in Las Vegas (hence the sunburn - The shirt I can't explain as I still wear it)
