Vector Tracing
Hello,

I was looiking at a demo of Corel Draw, and I noted that it had a feature called "vector tracing" This feature puts a yellow transparency on an image, and one traces on it the areas to keep. Does Photoshop have a feature like this?

Thanks

Jeff

Re: Vector Tracing
Not as such but unless Corel has automated this process, you could just slap a new layer over the image and trace it to that.

Re: Vector Tracing
Hi Jeff,

Could you post a link to the demo? I use vector artwork in Corel with my job.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Vector Tracing
The way you describe it, it looks similar to Quick Mask.

In this mode, you paint in black (which comes out in transparent red) the area you want to keep (or not, depending how you set your preferences) and when you leave Quick Mask Mode, your area is selected with the Marhcing Ants. You can then decide what you want to do with the selelction. I use QM quite extensively. You can make transparent selection (let's say picking only 50% of the pixels) by painting with a 50% grey (which comes out a lighter red).

Anyway it is very well desribed in the book on pages 8 to 13.
