Graphics tablet
I have a cheap one, that I seldom use. In the setup it seems to work with different pressures on the pen, but not in Photoshop. I'm thinking my husband should buy me a better one for Christmas , it will be a real surprise for one of us. I have ben looking at WACOM, any suggestions. |

Depending on how generous hubby is feeling, there are a few options. The Intuos range is the best of the bunch; unless you've had a lottery win and feel like splashing $1500+ on a Cintiq! I have a Graphire 2 which is great. _________________ Leap and the net will appear |

I have Wacom ArtpadII that is quite small and this suits me. I don't like the big tablets as I find them tiring to use after a while, I prefer to zoom in on the picture and use relatively small movements. From memory this wasn't too expensive. rufus |

At home, I've had a Graphire (the first model) for about 5 years now and it still works great. I have a 4X5, with the mouse and pen ( it's the one we see in the third edition!). If it would break or die, I would switch to a slightly bigger one. At work I got a Cintiq last June. This is a great toy if you do a lot of drawing from scratch with Photoshop or Painter. It's like drawing on paper. I don't do a lot of the "starting from scratch" stuff so it is overkill for me (don't tell my boss). _________________ |

Thanks, This is certaily giving me some ideas, now I will have to decide how genourous my husband wants to be and how surprised. Apart from price, what's the differens between the WACOM Graphire and Intous? |

The Intuos has a much higher resolution and is more pressure sensitive (1024 levels as opposed to the Graphire's 512). It also measures pen tilt so it can mimic the effect of different brush/tip effects like chiselled markers, for instance. It has more programable buttons as well which can speed up workflow immensely. _________________ Leap and the net will appear |

Hi there! I purchased an Intuos3 about 8 months ago and it's been a Godsend! Since it is my first tablet, I really don't have anything to compare, but with my experience thus far, I highly recommend this one. (Now just to convince the Newspaper how much a tablet can increase workflow as opposed to the single-button apple mouse they started me out using. I've sinced purchased a 5 button mouse, but it's nothing compared to a tablet!) Chris |

Thanks everybody for your help. I had almost settled on a Graphire, but at the last minute I decided to get the Intous3 4x6. I will let you know after Christmas what I think of it. Merry Christmas everybody |
