Saving Images in Internet Explorer
A funny thing happened to me on the (way to the) forum today! I opened up this weeks friday challenge Hi Res Image in Internet Explorer, and as usual, right clicked and chose "Save Picture As..." but this time, the save window was determined that the picture was to be saved as a .BMP file as opposed to the .JPG file that a) it would normally do, and b) was being displayed in the address bar of IE. This wasn't a major problem, as I just clicked back, and then Right Clicked on the link (Here) and chose "Save Target as..." However, it would be useful to know if the problem is at my end, and if so, if there is a way to overcome this in future (without changing my browser for Firefox etc). As far as I can think, nothing has changed on my PC recently (except for a slightly dodgy keyboard, which doesn't put spaces in when I need them!) Any advice would be appreciated Cheers BB |

That usually indicates the cache space is full. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu in IE. In the middle section, under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files. Check the Delete All Offline Content box and then OK. Once it's finished, the cursor will change back from the hourglass, click OK and restart IE. You should be able to save as JPEG again. _________________ If you hold on to the past, sooner or later you'll lose your grip. |

Hi BB The problem is not with you, the file is a BMP. but it opens in PS just like a JPEG, so you should not have any issues. Nick |

Nick, that's true but the bmp's file size will be much larger than if it was saved as a JPG. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

Re: Saving Images in Internet Explorer
Funny you should have that problem BB, that used to happen to me very frequently with Explorer as well. I spent an age on the internet trying to Google answers for it, and it seems that it's a glitch in IE, according to other users it's happened to. One person suggested it had something to do with the way IE loads it's images on a webpage. Like David suggested I cleared the cache regularly, but it didn't stop it from happening, nor did any of the other tricks and tips people recommended. So in the end I bounced to Firefox. Very weird indeed. |

I used to get that in IE and the cache trick did work for me. |
