Reflection on a knife edge
Hello All, How to cheat ... CS4 on page 281 item 8. How is the top bank note cut in half and stepped up? I managed to make something similar with a layer mask, but think that is not the technique used here. Please enlighten my weary old brain. Thank You, Martti ![]() |

Re: Reflection on a knife edge
Hi Martti The top note is stepped up in the same way as the full notes shown in step seven, which refers the reader to page 156 and the playing card technique. One point worth noting, if you select all (CTRL A) and nudge the note with the move tool selected, the new note will appear on the same layer. Without selecting all, the duplicate note will appear on a new layer. This will create many layers, but I prefer this approach in view of the flexibility it gives to move layers around later. The key is to preserve the bottom note as Steve describes. If you copy it and bring to the top of the stack, you can then cut it in half and nudge up as you did with the full note. You can use a layer mask for the knife, but you'll have to cut around where the notes have been stepped, to make it look realistic. Hope this helps Nick |
