Selection fundamentals
#'s 7-10 i keep getting the same results as in # 6 only moves selected region but not its contents. Followed step by step as in the book. How do i cut the rim out of that tire! |

Welcome Xmeout to the forum, I presume you selected ok. (I often have to invert). I normally duplicate the background layer. Work on the copy and turn-off the original background i.e. hit the eyeball to turn off a layer. Having said that, the example below just works on the original background with dragging So once you have the selection active in the tools menu select Move tool. Over the selection with your mouse, left click-hold and drag the selection to the new position. I don't want to complicate things, but another option, which I normally do, is save the selection (can use it again), and then create New Layer > Via Copy /or cut. You can copy the new layer again and again and just drag them around. ![]() |
